View Full Version : 2006 Ddo-003 (3-o-iv+viii)
Just found my first doubled die going through some circulated rolls of 2006 P I had set aside. I believe its stage B has the small die crack on his head and a small chip in the G. I got the best pics I could. Oh and what's its value.

I'll bet the pulse rate went up when that one went under the scope. Great find. I'm still looking to find my first one of those.

Yes the heart rate was a little high. That's why the pics were a little blurrier than usual.:LOL_Hair:

I might see about having it certified, but I've never done it before. Definitly keeping it.:)

Go with ANACS, but I recommend waiting until you have at least 5 coins to send in.
The value of that coin is hard to say since so few have been sold. I would say anywhere between $250 and $350.

Yep, I sold one for $560.
Congratulations on your finds! I see in a different thread you also came across another one. You're in the area where they were first reported.
Thanks, I started looking through the 2006 rolls to see if I had any of the strange reverse you had in the Die Variety News. Didn't have any, but I'll take what I found.

Is that the same one that coppercoins lists as 1Do-003 at $30.00 for MS65?
I have several unc rolls of 2006, but all the varieties are so subtle I cant see them. Any doubling I see looksthe same as MDD to me.
I'm afraid if I come across a good one I'll pass over it for someone else to find.

This one would be the 2006P 1DO-017 (http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=2006&die_id=2006p1do017&die_state=eds) unless I am terribly mistaken.

I'm confused. If we're talking about 1DO-017, why is the title of this thread DDO-003?
Yes I think I might be able to see DDO-017 even with my poor eyes.
But honestly, I couldn't tell from your photos. Plus the title of the thread threw me off.

That's how it's listed in CONECA's variety listings. It's also Crawford:CDDO-028 Wexler: WDDO-032 CONECA: 3-O-IV+VIII(also in thread title) I didn't know coppercoins existed when I posted, I've only been searching for a month. So bear with me I'm still kinda new. Should I use coppercoins variey numbers, let me know. Sorry about the photos I did the best I could with what I have and I was kinda excited at the time. :)

Hi OCD: I'm kind of new at varieties also. I'm easily confused with all the different numbering systems, so don't go by me. I just happen to look on coppercoins when I'm searching. I guess to be thorough, we should be familiar with all of them.
Also, I'm notorious for difficulty distinguishing hub doubling from MDD, so I don't mean to blame your pics.
Bottom line congrats again.

Accounted for are 11 Type "A"'s VEDS and 18 Type "B"'s. I own the other 3 that ANACS has on there POP report. 1 Type "A" and 2 Type "B". Bob Piazza (SP) of Copper Coins.com or can be reached thru CONECA Forum is trying to keep track of the total numbers found. I know he would be interested in contacting you on your two. CONGRATS on a nice find.:)

I have not heard of any Stage "C" as it is believed that the die was removed from Service at an early time period, thus not very many DDO's were produced. It has been speculated that the DDO were produced early in 2007. Best of luck on finding a Stage "A" in your searching of rolls. I was surprised when I found my AU-55 (Type "B") about 3 months ago.

I have recently received reports of two more coppercoins #2006P-1DO-017 cents. I have verified one is a recent find, and the other may be a duplicate I have already reported on. Get ready for this though....one was found in OKLAHOMA! I am sure it was probably just someones pocket change (if they only knew). Anyway...total numbers as of July 17th....12 Stage A, 19 Stage B...total 31. It is believed this coin was one of the last dies used in 2006, hence the supposed limited striking period. We may never know how many were struck. I am fortunate enough to have found both a Stage A and B from boxes sent down to me from Indiana. BTW...average auction price seems to be around $375.

Did you contact OCD this forum. He just sold a MS65 on e-bay and also I believe he has one in his collection. I just started a 2006 box dtd May 2006 that I had put up. Half way thru it with no luck except minor DDR's. I appreciate you keeping the count on this one. By any chance are you keeping track of the #2006P-1DO-018 (Dbl Ear and Beard)? If you are I currently have 15 graded by ANACS and 4 more there now and l damaged one. Not too many of these up on auction. I found all of them going thru bank bags/boxes. They range in grades from AU-58 thru MS-65's. Hopefully at the end of the month I will get back a MS-66 RD. Thanks for the info BOB.

I do indeed have OCSs coins in my count. As far as finding any in that box you have, I would be very surprised if there is. These weren't found until early 07. As far as the doubled ear count....I stopped counting at around 1,000 and when I found out that some copies had made it all the way to LDS. If a given die strikes its limit...there could be close to a million of them out there.
