    1996-d ddo

This coin isn't listed on CC and am not sure it is anywhere else. It was rather random how I found it as well. I picked up a handful of coins I went through before I had my digital microscope, picked out only the shiny ones. Then proceeded to go through all the shiny ones with the microscope at 20x and put this one aside just because GOD looked a little fatter than the rest of the text. And then this is what I seen when I had the microscope at 400x. Coin was nearly on its way back to the bank.

According to everything I see on here, it seems to be DDO but maybe it's just wishful thinking. lol

I can't seem to get a satisfying angle to the 'issue' to totally rule out MD

It certainly looks legit. An in hand examination would tell for sure.

Hmm. It would have to have been made in Philly and sent to Denver early on as the Denver die shop opened with single squeeze presses and this is not the type of hub doubling found. A lot of it I would say could be mild MD, but I have to admit the G does not from these pics. It may have to be viewed by Bob to determine. Nice pics and good luck!

I did not find that one in any of my books or other references. I think it is worth having examined by one of our pros.

The pics look pretty convincing, but I am not so sure that this is anything but mild machine doubling. With that being said, this is a case where an in-hand examination will be needed to determine what exactly it is. I will be more than happy to have a look at it for you.

Looks good from what I see. Can not wait to see what Bob says once he has it.

                    Nice! Jim

good luck with it - based on what Jason said it would probably be MD - but ill will agree with Wayne - only once!

Yes, There's really nothing I can find that would say its not MD, but I'm going to send it to Bob to know for certain. My digital microscope and lighting conditions just do not cut it when having to look at the coin sideways. lol

But in any case, if it turns out to be MD (which seems the likely outcome), Then it just shows how much MD can look like DD sometimes! haha

I would say that it is MD, but hope I'm wrong. Good luck!
