Set this one aside mainly for the condition and tone. But started looking and see what looks like MDO but it also looks very similar to an 002 or 010. any input would be some help.

If I had to choose either 002 or 010, I would say 010. However, I am not sure it is that one either. I am thinking it is maybe 001. This is one that would require examination to be sure.Bob Piazza

I would agree with Bob that this is closer to 01 than any of the two listed above. Very nice find and a great looking coin to boot. Because of the lighter spread on the date which is applicable to this DDO.
Congrats on your find.

Yes I agree with you guys that it is a 001, I went to CC and scoped it along with each photo there. The part that was throwing me off is I believe mine to be a LDS and has lost some of the finer details for comparison. Thanks AnthonyEven a fool can look wise if he keeps his mouth closed.Comment

I'm leaning towards what George is saying, if it were #1, you'd see it most clearly on IGWT, wouldn't notice it on the date. If #3, doubling on the date would be far different and not clearly on LIBERTY. I don't think it's genuine die doubling.Chris & Charity Welch- LIVEANDIEVARIETIES

Those Celestron handhelds are the devil.... I had one when I started out, wound up using a halogen lamp, and tore the LED's out of the scopeComment

Using bi-directional lighting in a scope is totally wrong for coin photos, and this thread shows exactly why. There is no discernible doubling on this coin. What everyone is seeing in the photos is the effect of having two light sources at opposite angles that cause two different parts of the letters to be lit. This causes the illusion of doubling where no doubling actually exists.
The macro shot of the coin convinces me that there is no doubling on this coin.Charles D. Daughtrey, NLG, Author, "Looking Through Lincoln Cents"
