    1984-p ddo #2

I was feeling a little disappointed in my last box until I looked at this one I had set aside again. Since it was all mushy looking I wasn't sure about what I had found, but I am almost positive now that It's a DDO-002. Needless to say, I'm feeling much better about that box now! I don't know what this guy's deal is - the reverse has a nice color to it and the obverse is all muddy looking - I would much rather have it be the other way around. Maybe the next one I find will be more aesthetically pleasing - still a good find, though!

I don't know the 84 DDOs too well, but it looks like it to me. Congrats! It's nice to be able to say that the brick was worth searching.

It's also good to know I can still find something with you in town!

Definitely looks like #2, does it have strong doubling along the base of the bust? Couldn't tell for sure, but that's your PUP for #2, no other die has that strength of doubling along the bottom of Lincoln's bust. Very tough coin, congratulations!

Yep, a very nice find. I think this DDO and others like it from the 80's are often overlooked. Congrats on pulling this one out.

Yup, doubling is on the base of the bust... quite strong too. Very nice and elusive find!

The doubling on the base of the 84 is similar to the 02 of 85. Excellent attribution and congrats on your find.
              Keep them coming.

Yes, that's #2 alright. Great find. I often prefer the scarcer doubled dies of a particular year to their more popular ones of the same year. A few come to mind: 1995, 1941, and this one.

I am inclined to agree with you, however, the 1984-001 is one that for whatever reason I feel pessimistic about finding...so for this year, the #1 would trump this find! I should probably be more positive about it seeing as how when I am they sort of appear. I just knew I would find both '88 and '88-D RDV's and sure enough they showed up within a few months of each other. I guess this way when I do find it it'll be even more exciting...
