I can't get clear enough pictures to save my life but doubling, to me, is prominent on the inside of the tail of the 9 as well as on the top, the 3 seems to be doubled on the top. Opinions?

Do you have a flatbed scanner? While it may not produce life like luster it can enhance the details the DDO? You using Windows XP and Got $20 I'll sell you my older Flatbed scanner about a 18 months old..lol

Believe it or not, I'm taking the pictures by focusing a digital camera through a 10X magnifying loupe, very tricky and takes a lot of patience. I have to take about 20 pics just to get 1 decent one.

Davedawg,
I take most of my photos the same way. With limited funds as I have I do what I can to get the best photos I can. If that means tapeing a loope to the camera and propping against something to still the shot that's what i do.
Sure would be nice to have a scope and decent camera though. Sometime I taek 50-60 photos to get one decent enough to view. One of my biggest problems is the lighting. Just can't seem to get it right most of the time.

Digital Blue makes the QX5 Digital Microscope for $99 new and allows for 10x 60x and 200x via the USB port to snap pictures.. It's a good tool for cheap.
I'll be selling my Omano 10x/30x Trinocular Scope with camera here in the next few months as I upgrade to a 10x-90x zoom trinocular scope.

If I go with a scope I will be looking for a Trinocular Scope and camera as well. But that is going to take a bit of saving or selling off of some of my coins to get that set up.

I'm in the same boat. Too poor to buy a nice scope right now. Steven, I can't believe you get those great photos doing it the same way i'm trying to.

6.31mp Traveler camera and a 10 power loope.
I fill the memory card a lot and still don't get what I want to see and start over again. A bit of a pain but it usually works out after a while and several shots.

So perseverance is the key. I'm just being too impatient. Thanks.

Sometimes I use a 20mm telescope lens attached to my camera lens but with both the loope and the 20mm lens I get some blurring on the photos. I guess that has to do with the curvature of the lenses and the main focus being on the center of the lens.
This one I took with the 20mm lens attached and it shows some blur. Inferior equipment produces an inferior result. Just a matter of funding for the better equipment and for that I will have to wait. :(
Until then I will just keep plugging along with this stuff.

You can get a good scope for less than $150 shipped. I got mine for 175.00. Works great, i just put the camera up to the lens. 1 shot. Sell off all those $5.00 cents you have laying around and invest.

But what sucks about that..I guess sucks is a bad word.. The photo port is limited in field of view. So you can't take a photo say of the entire cent, it's only a fraction of it.
If you want to take a full view of the coin, you'd need a barrow lens and a zoom scope in order to step down and zoom out.

I'm not sure. The L is probably missing due to a die break, but the i has me puzzled. It's split and elongated, and it doesn't look like any post mint damage I've ever seen because there's no other tell-tale marks (scratches, indentions, etc) around the i.
Any other guesses?

Looks to me like the L took a hit and shoved it into the I.
