Sorry to disagree with you guys, but that does not look like die # 1; the doubling is not strong enough. It could very well be die # 6 or even an early state die # 8.
Die markers must be matched up to make a positive call and that is hard to do from a picture.

Have you checked you coin against the ones pictured in Coppercoins? This is a great site and has the best references for Lincoln cents. I have a sneaky suspision that the coin pictured is die # 3, however, I can not be sure.

To be honest with you all, it is bad practice to attribute a certain die from just a picture. To many descriptions of die markers sound and look the same and only when you have "coin in hand" can you make an accurate judgment call.
Do not get me wrong, it is all right to say "yes" this is a doubled die or "no" this is not a RPM for such a reason, for in general, these anomalies are distinct enough to be single out on a picture if you know what you are looking at.
As far as sharing information, I am 100% for it. If you have a die that is not listed, then send it out to CONECA, Coppercoins, Wexler or Crawford to be listed. That is one of the main reasons why I have put the entire "Trail" files on the net, so this information can be shared. Sometimes it will cost you to do this, it is all dependent who you send it to, but when you think of it, the attributer does not get paid enough to sit down and try and find just what die that you have.
Well anyway, this is definitely one of the 10 obverse 1983 Lincoln cent doubled dies and a nice find. Good going.

Neff's totally correct.. I personally love the forum grades and attributions because it gives a great base line for sending it in for attribution.. :)
