    1972D RPM-001?

Found this 1972D that I think is a RPM-001. The MM placement seems corrct, but I could not find any of the few die markers at Variety Vista or Coppercoins. Your help is appreciated. Thanks for looking.

I would have written it off as deterioration but I very well could be wrong and the separation at the top serif could be a victim of that deterioration. Hope it turns out !

So sad ... My reverse consumption engine was a broken fuel gauge ... gonna look at coins now. John

Larry, I am thinking this may be a well placed hit on the mint mark.

It is not 001 simply because 001 had the MDD, yours does not.

I believe it is a hit??? It does not appear to be 001 on Copper Coins... Your MM appears to be to far south and slightly west!!!

Dave, I believe you are right on the hit as are the other responders to my post. My pictures are poor and do not show clearly a very severe hit that is at the bottom of the D. Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to respond and pass on your knowledge. Larry

There is nothing wrong with double checking. An extra pair of eyes (or extra pairs of eyes) are always helpful!
