Another 1936-D doubled die, DDR-003!

This one was an accidental find. I was looking for a 1936-D DDO-002 probably when I noticed the reverse looked a little bit like the right wheat stalk was a bit too thick. Fortunately there are a couple of great markers for this coin and I was able to match it to CONECA's DDR-003 pretty easily. It's a pretty minor DDR, but it definitely is present. Neither Coppercoins or Wexler have this variety listed. I was able to get this MS65RB for around $15, and the coin is probably 95% red as well.

Another excellent pick... Comparing yours with VVs sample http://varietyvista.com/01a%20LC%20D...936DDDR003.htm I think yours may be a Stage D... The chip/crack on the east stalk of yours looks larger than VVs???

It should be somewhere between Stage B and C. Wiles doesn't show how far up the crack goes on the right wheat stalk. However, the obverse die was changed between those stages. My coin is a later die state than B, but it does still have the first obverse not present on Stage C.

It's a great one to try to cherrypick since it has some great markers! Makes it a bit easier to verify.

Thanks for the follow up... I appreciate it... I think it may be due to the difference in details of your pic and VVs... Your pic of the stock appears to show better detail than VVs Stage C!!!
