    1984D double ear?

    Hello Lincoln cent enthusiasts!

I have not been on this forum for some time. I am retiring on Friday! Then off to Route 66 (Chicago to Santa Monica in 19 days)!

Today, in pocket change, I came upon this 1984D that has an anomaly on the ear.

While it sorta' appears like doubling, I think it might be a convenient hit or maybe a die chip.

    Thanks for any comments...

Congrats on your retirement Astro Raider! Have fun on the Route 66 trip!

Very nice pics! But unfortunately I have to agree with enamel, looks like MD and maybe the ear has taken a hit that flattened that area to make it even more misleading. After your trip, maybe you can jump back in to searching some rolls!

        Very nice closeup image.
That one shows the "flatness" or plateau like appearance of the MD.
