    1952D-1MM-015

Hi, all! It's been way too many moons since I had time to share any finds with you guys that's for sure!
Hope everyone had a good 4th of July, btw. Speaking of many moons, this is a variety I've hunted for a
very long time with no success until last week. Whether it's a "misplaced" mintmark or a die clash is a
debate I'll leave up to the masters division but I love this variety regardless. I am somewhat curious as
to where this one sits on the rarity scale if anyone knows? It's definitely been extremely rare in my world
without a doubt! Thanks for looking!

Great find in beautiful shape Tracey. Yours looks to be MDS looking at the die gouge/dent between TY of LIBERTY and no long die scratch south from the 1 of the date.

I think I've been lucky enough to have found one in MDS and LDS comparing to the markers on CC.

I like it, the "thing" sure looks like it could be a D to me but it's never been proven beyond a doubt but to me it looks more like a D than most misplaced or OMMs look like.

I don't know how rare they really are, I searched a lot of 52-D rolls then found one with them, I think it had 12 or 15 of them and I gave one to Bob which is used in some of the MDS pics.

I would assume that they aren't super rare, the RPM is only going to get noticed by a fairly good searcher on a circ and when I found the bunch I didn't see the supposed D until I looked for markers then saw it and knew it was RPM-15 So I'd assume people might miss them if they miss the RPM because all searchers don't look at the whole coin.

I made the mistake of grading most of them and selling them for about the grading fee or less. I thought there would be some 66s but most them were 63-64 and a few 65s. Kept the best looking 65 red and lost money on the find because I made the mistake of grading them.

I always wondered if the die damage on TY is related to the "D thing". Would be interesting if the variety ever turned up without the "D thing" that would prove it isn't a D but I've not heard of one.

Very nice find!! I'm not sure how rare though. The pop numbers are low but there may be a lot of raw coins out there. There is an uncertified BU on the bay for $25 though. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1952-D-1C-R...8AAOSwSKtaaV5~

Hello Tracy! Nice to see you! Great find, glad you finally nabbed it! Looks to be around MDS considering the strength of your misplaced mint mark! Very nice looking Lincoln too! Congrats!

You're right as usual, Ed. It's not hard at all to overlook the clash especially online. In bad light it won't show up. Also, it's hard to see this one as truly rare or even scarce as none of the other 52 D's are that scarce.
Tough to call the misplaced D. Judging by all the blazingly weird RPMs for this date I personally think the mint "punchers" were dropping LSD whilst on the clock! 👨*🚀

Nice find... I think yours is a VVs Stage D http://varietyvista.com/02a%20LC%20R...952DRPM015.htm which should be a CC VLDS http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=lds There are some abrasions on the jacket that apparently removed the die gouges on the Stage C/MDS versions???
