1982P LD Copper - Is this normal 82P copper thickness?

Searched the listed doubled dies, searched the forum, and also looked at Cliff's awesome 1982P LD Copper discovery on Wexler's site. I don't see many 82's, but these CWR's had a lot of them and this one is different.

My first thought was die wear, but I'm not seeing much in the way of die flow lines.

The dreaded 82's! I don't see anything that would point to a DDO but they are a little thick looking. I couldn't see any matching markers from the listings either. Sorry, not much help.

Thank you Jon for looking and helping! Yeah... these 82's are a pain! I've had this one on my desk for a couple of days... debating... I think it's nothing but I couldn't toss it without asking

Maybe I'm just used to seeing 82P's with a lot of circulation wear, so this one stands out?

Those '82's are a real pain. The letters seem to be thicker than the small date for sure.
On yours, I can't tell if the vertical of the L of LIBERTY is thicker than the foot.
This is another tough one Viv but I think Jon may be right.

Thank you Cliff for helping! Yeah.. my gut feeling was it's normal but with some extra thickness, the B and R of Liberty looked a little different too. Appreciate the help!

To me it looks like circ wear... All of the devices have been fairly well flattened giving the appearance of thicker than normal devices... Could you post a full obv pic???

Well Jim... I'm not sure if my full obverse pic is gonna help much?! I pulled all the lighting tricks I know outta my hat and this is what happened. I reshot Liberty too, but had to break it into two pics to try to get the best focus. I definitely see where the devices have been worn flat from circulation wear... although I have seen worse

Nice follow up pics... I am still thinking circ wear... While the circ and die wear is not to bad the 82 LDs were thick devices as is... Couple all three together and it makes things even thicker... Kind of like my skull You also have a slight misaligned die!!!

Thank you very much Jim for looking this over again and pointing out the slight MAD! I've studied the listed 82P's and know what to look for on the real deal, so I knew this was not one of them. The thickness did catch my attention though. Hey... don't pick on hard heads and thick skull's too much... WE can get a lot accomplished

82s are a headache almost as much as the 60D RPMs or 2009 DDRs not really but it sounds good Any time I find a thicker than normal 82 I have to look numerous times to make sure... If I can't decide I will post it!!!

Yes they are... just ask Jon! 82's might be what started his aggravation can! What bugs me about 82's is... there are some really nice DDO's and I want to find one of them really bad.... but most of the ones I see are so damaged that there ain't no reason to look very hard. There's still a chance to find a nice one someday
