Found 3 of these in past month, nothing grading very high, but I did buy 2 MS67 RD 1995 DDO's a few months ago on Ebay for $50 each, 1 from PCGS and 1 from NGC. Still trying to track down that elusive '72 DDO-I. Just a word of advice for those that may not be aware, a lot of sellers on Ebay are selling "1972 DDO's" without disclosing that they are not DDO-I's. I've seen a lot of people overbidding for the cheaper DD's, like DDO-II and DDO-III. Plus they take slightly blurry pictures so you can't the difference. FYI

WOW a 1995 DDO for $50, Redbook lists it even higher than that..
The 1995 ddo is probably the most common ddo in the Lincoln Cent Series. Take a look at the NGC and ANACS population reports and compare the 1995 ddo to other ddo numbers.

I'm trying to buy a certified DDO-II, and I'm having the reverse problem. People are outbiding me thinking that they are getting DDO-I. Sellers can be creative in the ways they disguise these coins.

As far as the '72 DDO goes, I completely agree with you. Most people, in my opinion, don't know that there is more than one DD for that date and think they're getting a great deal. You'd figure that if they saw one selling for $700 while another is selling for $150, a red flag might go up in their mind. Who knows, like my father always said "Education's expensive". And you're right, the sellers pull out all the stops with their listings (using creative backgrounds with blinking lights and writing a short story about the rarity of this coin, etc.) LOL. I thought that the new Ebay rules required sellers to provide accurate descriptions? Anyway, as far as the 1995 DDO goes, I also agree. However, I did buy them at the time when the 1st Presidential dollar came out and everyone went crazy with the errors on them. It kind of drew their attention away from other great coins up for bid. So I ended up getting 2 $85 coins for $50 each. Not bad, but people are listing them now at MS67 RD for at least $100 each. When they first discovered the error there was a lot of publicity and the public went crazy to get them. But I think they'll hold a decent value over time, nothing too rediculous.

Brad,
If you check out Ebay now, there are 2 1972 DDO-II up for bid, one is NGC MS65R and the other is an ANACS MS63R and they are currently in the $20-$30 range. Check out the ANACS one though, I can't be for sure but I think there is an error on the ANACS slab. All the way on the top of the slab it looks like it says "1973 1c MS 62 Red". Curious though because the FS# for that coin is FS-102 Die 2, Coppercoins.com has it as FS#: 1c-033.52. Don't know if that means anything but thought you should know.
Dave
I am watching both of these. I would be happy with the ANACS one. I think the 1973 and 62 are just weird reflections. I don't want to pay more than $50.
FS-102 is the new Fivaz Stanton #, FS-033.52 is the old Fivaz Stanton #. The new numbering system is in the back of the new Cherrypickers Guide (the red one). The new numbering system makes much more sense.

Thanks for the info, I guess coppercoins.com needs an update. Good luck with your bidding! By the way, do you have a 1972 DDO-I and 1936 DDO-I & II? I just found a 1936 DDO-VI last night which pairs with the DDR-VII on the same coin. Pretty cool, but oddly enough not worth much:confused:
These are the ddo's I own: (I keep them all in a safety deposit box)
1955 ddo 1 PCGS MS 62 BN
1972 ddo 1 ANACS MS 66 RD
1983 ddr 1 NGC MS 65 RD
1984 ddo 1 PCGS MS 64 RD
1909 vdb ddo 1 ANACS AU 58
1960 D/D ddo 1 ANACS AU 58
1917 ddo 1 PCI VG 10
1995 ddo 1 ANACS MS 63 RD
1935 ddo 1 ANACS VF 30
1936 ddo 1 ANACS VF 30
1936 ddo 2 ANACS F 12
1941 ddo 1 ANACS VF 30
1941 ddo 2 SEGS F 15
1963 D ddo 1 SEGS MS 64 RD
1964 ddr 1 ANACS AU 58
1971 ddo 1 AU 50
1955 D ddo 1 VF
1939 ddo 1 VF
The 1960 D/D ddo 1 is the only one I cherrypicked. I saw it at a coin show selling for 50 cents as a small date. As it happens, I also found a 1981 S type 2 proof cent for sale for $3 (the dealer had is adverstised as a Type 1). Within 10 minutes I bought two $50 coins for $3.50. Not bad. Everycoin show I go to, I inspect every 1922D, 1943, 1943D, 1960D, 1981 S proof, 1910 S, 1911 D, 1927 D, 1909 S, 1956 D... you never know.

That's an awesome collection, I guess envy would be the right word. All I do now is cherrypick unless I see something I really want. Nice job on your coins!:D
Nice Brad.. Now you just need a 1969 DDO..:)

1958 ddo 1, 1969 S ddo 1, and a 1970 s ddo 1 ... in that order!

Dave, your dad was right but a lack of education can be even more so.

Basically that's what that qoute means...by wasting money or way overpaying for something that is near worthless should teach you a lesson never to do it again. You lose money but gain knowledge.
