I never used to even think about varieties. Now you guys got me looking thru my old albums. (I started at 1909 naturally).

I found two 1915d cents. I'll post them separately to avoid confusion.

1915d-1DO-001. Am I right?

Like a lot of LC collectors through the years they may have a bunch of sets going along , adding and improving. Then they sell trade 'em in. Start with your own sets, especially if you begin looking for varieties. For years I had a 1951 PF67 DDO FS-021.35 in my #1 set of 1936 to date proofs. And a 1925-S DDO MS62 BN FS 013.3 in my #1 set of 1909 to date business strikes at the bank. They were in there longer than the CPG has been in print. And that is the case for a lot of Lincoln Cent collections.

Picked up a nice 1944 D/S AU OMM-002 which was overlooked in a penny collection buying the Whitman book for 7 bucks taking the coin out and sold the book back to another dealer for $5 before leaving. Get to know the look of the early Whitman penny board books their date ranges etc and never pass one up one other wsie you may be walking past a great variety worth more than the book.

Looks as though it might be..

The MM in relation to the date looks good and there appears to be something happening under the L in liberty as in a class 8s.

However there is a good deal of gunk over top of die markers CC refers to on the obverse. Also you may want to look for that die chip dot on the reverse. Though that may be hard to do as it it looks to be a worn 1915-D.

I myself was looking for additional die markers.
