    1973s RPM?

I notice Coppercoins has no 1973s omms.

    Could this be one? Comments?

This looks to me to be a normal design but let's see what others have to say.

It does appear to be the normal 1973 design.

I guess we don't see what you are seeing. It may just be a die chip/break.

nothing indicates RPM, even a minor tilt

Gee. What is that above the bottom serif?

I do see that. That is why I said that it looks like a die chip. Lets see another picture with a different light angle.

Two more angles. You might be right.

I don't think it is an rpm. Just a filled in mintmark. Could be from the punch, or a small piece of the die broke off. I would throw it back...

Have several rolls of both 71-s and 70-s Lincolns having that same charateristic right between the middle of the S and the bottom serif.

It is not an RPM . Very common feature after the design change which occured that year. ( .. then design continued from 1970-1973. )

Will post several S MM in this date range with the exact same feature. Years ago I questioned this feature on several rolls of 70-S and 71-S'es.
and and have it from a reliable source it is not an RPM. I am not sure if they reached agreement that it was a die chip however..
