Hello everyone,
I'm a new member and only started in this hobby a little over a year ago. What got me involved was a 1922 plain strong reverse find which lead to a lot of research, joining a local coin club and getting to know lots of dealers within the local area.
This past week I went through 2 boxes of pennies. Found some wheats and a half dozen S Mint mark cents, which are rare to me here in the east.
Anyway long story, short, I have a strange looking 1987 cent which has a raised circular surface running from Lincolns shoulder, through Liberty (though the capital L in Liberty was never completed and shows only as Iiberty) and continues through "In God We Trust" before fading back into the surface of the coin.
The reverse shows a corresponding, though light ring. I know pictures would add to the discussion, unfortunately I have to figure how to get that accomplished. If we have a "expert" here, I'd be happy to send the coin for review.
Sorry for the long introduction, but from browsing this site for a time, I look forward to learning a lot about Lincoln cents.
