    Cent wrappers

    Hi All,
There has been discussion of what coin wrappers you might encounter when trying to decide what rolls of coins you are thinking about buying.
Sometime ago I decided it would be fun to collect coin wrappers because I found them interesting. Some of these wrappers are likely to be almost antiques as they came from my grandmother, aunts and my mother's belongings.

Nice collection of wrappers Jean. I see they are full. To keep them nice put them inside of 5 Cent Plastic Coin Tubes (Ones w/o PVC Preferably)

Well, isn't that a coincidence Roger and Heidi?! Fantastic!
We could probably sell these for a small fortune to unscrupulous ebayers so they can refill them and sell them at really high prices... yeh, right... NOT.

I do collect the oddest things... shall I admit it?

          Hey Joe,
Actually, some look full because I unravel the loose end of the tube before emptying them out and save them this way. I do have a lot of unused coin tubes I could store them in if you think it would help preserve what I have found so far.
I also have a large collection of the wrappers of the older ones for the different denominations. They fascinate me because they are old... like me.

Hi JeanK, I just now came across this thread of yours. Very nostalgic to see these rolls. Great collection. Wrappers do go way back don't they?

I started serious collecting two to three years ago, and have bought many rolls of bu cents which had some of these wrappers. The wrappers go back as far as they do because I found them with my grandmothers belongings and my mom's belongings when emptying their apartments after they passed away.
                  I do collect strange things.

                    Grandma's stuff...

Is always treasure, and it's sweet you remember her by collecting seemingly innocuous items. I bet she did too. Long live your Grandma.

Jean, from now on I will save my vintage wrappers for you as well. For this I get one recipe from Grandma's recipes, if you would be so courteous. Especially, when my wife's Memaw passed, she had not written down her Apple Jacks recipe. It was a kind of morning apple strudel. If you have something even remotely resembling this, pass it along. That is one thing my wife really, really misses about Her Grandma. Thanks...
                          wonderfully.

Do you remember the wrappers that were for all denominations? They were flat sheets with a diagonal cut on one end, you layed it on the table, placed 50 pennies, or 50 dimes or 20 dollar coins, or whatever, held the coins together with your finger tips on each end, caught up the edge of the wrapper with your thumbs and started rolling and when you were done, you tucked in the ends of the wrapper and the denomination showed on the side of the roll in a little window. I sometimes make my own with a sheet of paper or an envelope works better and roll up a roll of quarters or nickels up and write on the wrapper what it is. Ones I take to bank. Then again, I also make my own coin boxes out of food can flats and pizza lids. America is a great country!

(((I get one recipe from Grandma's recipes,)))
So very sorry about that, but Grandma didn't write down any of her recipes for me to use. Needless to say all I have now is the wonderful memory of the fresh hot rolls that my brother and I would sneak in to get when we were walking to the school bus in the morning. Not to mention her pineapple pie!
                              Those were the days.
