    1909-?-VDB

Well, I think I'm in the right forum. Couldn't think of a better one for Lincoln Cents!

However, not sure if I'm in the right thread. If I'm wrong, could a MOD please relocate it...thanks.

I'm also hoping I haven't already posted this here somewhere before. I honestly don't remember. If I did, I think this is a new question about this coin.

I've had this coin for years. I have no idea where or how I acquired it. Maybe when I was a kid from my paper-route. I know I didn't buy it. So here's the question: Is there a conclusive why for you or a TPG to tell this coin was or wasn't an S?
Are there specific die markers for an S-VDB? Hope these pictures help you.

Don't think there's any sure way to tell, dot spacing helps but not certain for this coin (centered dot). I think Ps come either way but mostly non centered second dot but all S have the centered (not closer to the D) second dot.
So it's either an S or a P with centered dot which is less common. I wish some expert did a study to verify this stuff, it is helpful but still the centered dot could be either but I never saw an S with non centered so it could ID some fakes. So like with this coin, if it had the non centered dot (to me) that would mean it can not be an S, having it centered does not prove that it is an S.

Maybe it was used as a button.

Yeah, I remember you posting this coin before, but I agree with Ed.

Thanks guys. Not sure if I was trying to ID this coin as a legit S-VDB or just showing it as a conversation piece. Yes Ed, some folks mentioned it may have been used as a button. Another guy said it may have been used as a kids spinning game/toy.

A button makes sense. I could see it. That pic looks like what probably happened

Could have bought a lot of new buttons or games if it was an SVDB.
