Very happy to have added this variety to my collection, but it has some obvious issues! The obv has plenty of dammage, lam peeling, and probably a cleaning. It's a shame the rev look much nicer. I paid about $30, not really kowing where the value lies in its condition. Opinions are appreciated, good or bad!
Yep, thats it. You should also have a right sided diagonal die crack from the rim to to the stalk hitting about the 3rd kernel from the top.
Considering all the other issues, you paid a very reasonable price for what looks to be a very attractive coin regardless. Top values for the Vf 35-Xf 40 examples are about $175. I would see this easily being worth $30-$40 in its condition.
Thanks WS! I figured as a first it was OK. I have one more suspect 004 on the way that may meet the XF level, or hopefully surpass it! I can't get too excited yet, need to get it in hand and posted to check out any condition issues it has.
You think it was cleaned? Maybe? I see a glossy look but it still looks nice.
Still a nice looking RPM.
I like the 11-Ds, the first D mint cents and tougher to find nice ones than you might expect.
The RPMs are out there if you have the know how to find them but some are tough to spot, the markers are really handy with these!
Of course! $27 start price with the title saying 1917-D, no mention od the rpm, and no other bidders. 1917-D was even writtenon the flip I received it in!
